Do you think that it may be possible this year to have the announcements for competitors in the paddock area given precedence over the sometimes mindless prattle that some of the commentators go on with. This would help greatly in ensuring that us old farts that are hearing deficient can hear the announcers call us to the dummy grid when required. You see the problem is that we have our hearing aids out when we are about to compete !!! (no joke) Would save all that carving up trough the traffic from the paddock to the dummy grid at the last moment and the angst that sometimes causes.
Thanks

Hi Tezza, the commentators and the officials use the same PA system (there aren't separate speakers for each), but the officials can override the commentators at any time. If you have difficulty on the weekend, please be sure to let our Event Secretary Rod Sams know, and he'll see what he can do to assist you.

I agree with you as most of the competitors in the paddock cannot hear the marshal announcements and resort to relying on others to roll up and hope they are not also late,

Much better this year so thanks for that.
One comment though resulting from this years event is that there were too many competitors and as a result the numbers of runs achieved was not good. I know it must be hard to put a limit on something as popular as Leyburn but think its time to give it some good hard thought. Perhaps criteria such as uniqueness of vehicles could be looked at, A kind of rewards for long term competitors for their support and maybe even extending it to a 3 day event. Anyway as usual easy being an armchair commentator but please give it some thought as I caught much grumbling from the troops this year about the number of competitors and lack of runs.
One other thing I did notice is that crowd control left a bit to be desired myself seeing two instances of spectators wandering into no go areas with the event being stopped until these were cleared off the course. In one instance i suspect it was a local as was the spectator marshal and they seems to have a good old chin wag while the event was delayed. Don't want a police state or to get the locals off side as they are so supportive but perhaps a few words when the spec marshal are being briefed and also over the PA for the general spectators may assist in this regard.
Once again thanks for having us and hopefully will be back next year.
