We attended last year (2014 ) for our first time. We arrived several days before the weekend and set up our caravan for a week in total. We spoke with many other campers who spent as long or longer than us there. We loved everything about the camping ( Great portable showers & loos.) and the racing area. We rolled into the Leyburn free camp a few months ago and found signs saying three days maximum camping. Will this 3 day maximum be enforced for those wishing to spend the weekend and more days before and/or after the event ? I would think that there are many planning a week or so at the camp. It would be a shame for those to be ordered out early to enforce the 3 day limit signs.

Hi George, to be honest I wasn't aware of the three days now imposed by council. There should be no issue with come for several days beforehand and then staying for a few days after, I know plenty people do. As you would be aware from last year, we do charge per camp site for the actual weekend, to go towards the cost of having the toilets and showers there.

Thanks for the quick response. Fingers crossed that there are no officious officials imposing the letter of the law. I also saw on our last trip through signs placing restrictions on camp fires. Sorry, I can't recall the details. Something about 2 meters clear around any fire. Very happy to pay the fees...Worth every cent. The fellow supplying the amenities last year was top rate. Our plans are set and looking forward to the weekends events.

I have a large motor home that is 10 metres long. I note campsites are listed a 8 x 7 metres. Problem or just formality?
